Occupy Wallstreet makes commercials!
I understand why #occupy uses the metaphors they do. They’re borrowing from the Civil Rights Movement. They understand oppression and they’re comfortable with that metaphor for telling a story. The problem is, it doesn’t help us understand what’s wrong with the economy right now.
There is no grand conspiracy or commanding heights from which strategies are laid out. Everything is a consequence of people doing what is right in their own eyes. People want to create a safe environment for their children to grow up in. They want securities. They want sound investments.
And sometimes there is collateral damage to our plans. And sometimes our plans backfire.
